Job Summary
Support Design team in creating original prints, patterns, embroideries, and textile artwork that reflect the Johnny Was aesthetic and modern bohemian lifestyle. Collaborate with Design, Product Development, and Production to develop seasonal collections from concept through production. Initiate and update seasonal print charts with headers for copyright purposes; perform textile design tasks including clean-up, repeats in Photoshop and Illustrator, and tech-pack creation. Make print requests and communicate with overseas vendors; update seasonal prints in PLM; design printed accessories such as scarves, blankets, aprons, and stationery; generate SMS orders; create accessory line sheets and technical drawings in Illustrator. Organize print strike-offs and prototypes; set up print appointments with art studios; work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with proactive collaboration and support for a growing JW textile team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Surface Design, or related field
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
- Proficiency in Illustrator
- Proficiency in InDesign
- Strong portfolio demonstrating print, pattern, embroidery, and color work
- Knowledge of print repeats and textile production

- Experience with overseas textile development processes
- Understanding of fabric printing techniques and embroidery applications
- Familiarity with trend forecasting and seasonal market research
- Ability to hand sketch or paint original artwork
