Job Summary

Junior Telescope Operator responsibilities include operating and maintaining mission telescope systems and related equipment at the AMOS site in Maui, Hawai'i, performing routine calibrations and end-to-end system testing, monitoring data quality, and assisting engineers with design and improvements. The role requires basic knowledge of procedures and tools, the ability to work under supervision, flexibility to support 24x7x365 mission operations, and effective communication with a government customer and project team. Desired qualifications include associate degree and related hands-on experience with mechanical, optical, or electrical equipment; at-sea-level and high-altitude work considerations; clearance eligibility (Active Secret desired, TS/SCI eligibility); and on-site, full-time work at Haleakalā summit with relocation benefits when applicable. The compensation for Hawaii is approximately $30-$38 per hour, with additional benefits and incentives possible.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience (e.g., operating a variety of mechanical, optical or electrical equipment); or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
