Job Summary
The Junior Software Engineer supports the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions for Peckham Industries, collaborating with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into functional software. Responsibilities include contributing to software projects across the development lifecycle, code reviews, testing activities, troubleshooting defects, and maintaining integrations between internal systems, cloud platforms, and third-party applications. The role emphasizes hands-on experience in application development, cloud technologies, and business systems, with a foundation in programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript, familiarity with databases and Git, and a willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies including generative AI. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 2 years of software development experience, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to travel up to 5% for coordination with NY and New England offices. The position operates in an office environment with some field travel and is described as onsite/hybrid in Brewster, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 02 years of software development experience or equivalent
- Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming and software development principles
- Experience with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Familiarity with relational databases and basic database design concepts
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is preferred
- Exposure to source control systems such as Git
- Understanding of software testing concepts and debugging techniques
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Capabilities and understanding of generative AI applications or frameworks for software development and testing
- Experience with IoT, industrial automation, or PLC systems is a plus
