Job Summary
Junior Software Developer for Information Technology role responsible for developing new or enhancing existing software applications based on requirements. Under supervision, handles small projects or portions of larger projects; focuses on understanding user needs to improve university operations through software solutions. Responsibilities include analysis of client requirements, design and coordination of software using appropriate tools, development and testing with documentation for releases, and deployment of software with integration to existing systems. Requires a college degree in Computer Programming or a university degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience), 0-3 years of development experience, familiarity with AI concepts, and skills in Python, JavaScript, NodeJS, ReactJS, SQL, Git. Proficiency in communicating technical concepts to users and bilingual English/French is preferred. The role is HYBRID in Ottawa, ON, Canada, with responsibilities spanning analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation, aligned with university IT initiatives and user-focused improvements.
Required Qualifications
- College degree in Computer Programming or university degree in Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 0-3 years of experience in the development and implementation of system or software programs
- Familiarity with AI concepts and interest in applying them in real-world solutions
- Exposure to Microsoft 365, Power Platform (including Copilot Studio), Azure AI Services, Power BI, and Azure AI Foundry
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, NodeJS, ReactJS, SQL, Git
- Knowledge of prompt engineering or basic machine learning concepts
- Bilingualism English and French (spoken and written)
