Job Summary
Find, verify, and source user-generated content across social media platforms using open-source intelligence techniques. Trace and verify locations, events, imagery, and individuals by analyzing satellite data and digital investigative methods. Develop original story ideas and collaborate with the Data & Forensics team to produce video-first journalism for digital, social, and TV outlets. Maintain current news awareness to suggest coverage while ensuring high accuracy in verification. This six-month fixed-term role is based on-site at Sky News HQ in Osterley, requiring UK right to work and a successful criminal record check.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable OSINT and verification skills, with examples of how you've used open-source techniques to verify information or investigate stories
- Some newsroom or journalism experience
- An understanding of geolocation, social media verification and digital investigative techniques
- Strong research skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated experience working in a quick-paced environment with tight deadlines
- A collaborative approach, with the confidence to work across editorial teams
- Appropriate right to work in the UK
- Ability to complete a criminal record check
