Job Summary
Operate Environmental Services Facilities including wastewater and storm water pumping/lift stations, Water Pollution Control Centre, and Devine Street CSO Facility. Prepare plant effluent samples for lab analysis, monitor processes, adjust and maintain equipment under a licensed operator's direction, and grease pumps and valves. Assist maintenance and compliance staff as required, perform general maintenance and cleaning of equipment, tanks, windows, floors, kitchens, and restrooms, and handle painting, cutting grass, and other assigned duties. Full-time co-op for up to four months at $20.40-$22.40 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an Environmental Technician/Technology program
- Valid class G2 Driver's License with an abstract acceptable to City guidelines
- Operator In Training (OIT) Wastewater Treatment Certificate through the Ontario Wastewater Certification Office (OWWCO) or ability to obtain during co-op term
- highly motivated with a strong ability to work independently when required
- Strong ability for compliance with instructions and guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Competent within the meaning and use of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
