Job Summary
Manage Loretto's clustered VMware ESXi environment and Microsoft 365/Azure infrastructure, including Domain Controllers, Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, and SCCM. Monitor system resources, troubleshoot production issues, and provide Tier-2 help desk support while maintaining backup, disaster recovery, and security protocols. Install server hardware, upgrade operating systems, and write scripts to automate tasks, often working during off-hours to minimize disruptions. Maintain system documentation, conduct security risk assessments, and ensure HIPAA compliance. Provide education to IT staff and end users, reporting server health and uptime metrics regularly. This onsite role in Syracuse, NY requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience with Microsoft technologies and virtualization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or equivalent
- 1-3 years of professional experience in system administration
- Experience considered in lieu of formal degree
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft technologies
- Strong written and verbal communications
- Teamwork skills
- Server Administration certifications (MCSA, MCSE, MCP, MTA, etc.)
- Experience considered in lieu of certifications
- Knowledge of healthcare industry helpful
- Strong Microsoft operating system and network knowledge
- Virtualization technology, VMware or equivalent including Storage Area Networks
- Overall system administration responsibility for major platform and operating systems
- Microsoft 365/Azure
- Ability to conduct ongoing security risk assessments including the monitoring, investigation and reporting of security and access violations
- Install and maintain network servers, operating systems, and other network equipment
- Demonstrate leadership and foster collaborative team approach
- Provide 24/7 support as needed
- Ability to effectively manage Loretto's clustered VMware ESXi environment including VMware SRM with Storage Area Network
- Manage corporate backup solution, including replication, deduplication, and offsite storage
- Maintains system documentation, testing and creates methods of procedures
- Maintains application security, event investigations and compliance enforcement
- Implements and maintains HIPAA requirements
- Keeps current with new Information Technology Security protocols, applicable laws and regulations
- Provides education and training to Information Technology staff and end users
- Understands all HIPAA and other compliance & regulatory requirements associated with their role, including completion of required internal or external training/certifications
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- This position will be located onsite at our Syracuse, NY location. This is not a hybrid or remote opportunity

- Knowledge of: Strong Microsoft operating system and network knowledge to carry out assigned administrative tasks with the need for limited supervision

- Ability to: Perform system vulnerability assessments and conduct trade-off studies to recommend methods on countering threats to systems
- Ability to: Review system performance statistics; perform system modifications and fixes
- Ability to: Research, test and evaluate vendor hardware and software products
- Ability to: Conduct feasibility studies and develop system, time, equipment and cost requirements
- Knowledge of healthcare industry helpful
