Job Summary
Junior Pet Stylist in Petco Grooming program: learn essential grooming skills through a ten-week training period, including bathing, drying, brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning under supervision. Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean grooming area, assisting in grooming processes, scheduling appointments, and delivering excellent customer service to pet parents. The role emphasizes safety and well-being of animals, adherence to grooming policies, and participation in a structured training outline (Weeks 1-3: learning and on-the-job training; Weeks 3-10: performing grooming tasks and achieving productivity). Compensation is hourly with a pay range of $10.00 to $21.50 per hour, plus benefits, and requires availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays. Required Qualifications
- 0-1 year animal-related experience (shelter volunteering, pet sitting, or prior grooming salon assistance preferred)
- High-school diploma or GED preferred though not required
- Genuine passion for animals and desire to pursue a career in pet grooming
- Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and grooming team members
- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by the grooming schedule
- Basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices
