Job Summary
Prepare accounting schedules in Excel for doubtful accounts, bonuses, depreciation, and variable compensation. Assist with invoice preparation, accounts receivable collections, payroll, financial filings, audits, month-end close, and accounts payable. Generate financial analyses, update budgets and forecasts, and manage cap tables and equity for board meetings. Provide administrative support to the CEO, COO, and finance leadership while handling sensitive personnel information with discretion. Identify workflow optimization opportunities and perform ad hoc operations tasks. Join a legal AI startup to gain unique insight into finance operations within a fully remote, collaborative culture.
Required Qualifications
- Basic finance and accounting knowledge and skills
- Very strong attention to financial and operational details
- Ability to perform a wide range of finance and accounting tasks under deadline pressure
- Good communications skills
- 1–2 years of experience as a junior finance assistant, financial analyst, accounting assistant, controller assistant or similar role
- Bachelors degree in finance, economics, accounting, business or similar
- Aptitude for working well with a diverse group of people in team settings
- Proven ability to operate autonomously and take initiative with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities
- Proactive, resourceful, and calm under pressure
- Analytical, logical and data driven
- Tech-savvy and quickly adapt to new tools and platforms
- Basic understanding of accounting concepts and principles: Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, Account Receivable Aging, Debits and Credits, Journal Entries, Reserves and Accruals
- Must know Excel and Google Sheets
- Basic experience using QuickBooks Online
Desired Qualifications
- Desire to learn advanced accounting rules and procedures
- Basic experience using Ramp and/or a Payroll platform such as TriNet, ADP or JustWorks
