Job Summary
Junior Field Engineer needed to support construction operations on a large-scale express lanes project in Georgia. Responsibilities include conducting daily field meetings to align schedules, coordinating field activities, assisting with field layout planning, utility marking, and permit tracking; analyzing shop drawings, submittals, specifications, and contracts to identify conflicts; recording daily production quantities and costs using the project WBS; monitoring progress and alerting supervisors to delays; contributing to weekly lookahead updates; documenting daily activities (timecards, RFIs, field memos) using Procore, Bluebeam, and HCSS; supporting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety inspections, and environmental compliance; preparing reports, inspection requests, and quality control checklists; coordinating with subcontractors on sequencing, logistics, and safety plan compliance; assisting in closeout by reconciling quantities and compiling documentation. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline and at least 1 year of field engineering experience in heavy civil/DOT projects; valid driver’s license; familiarity with GDOT/AASHTO standards; strong proficiency in construction documents, field reporting tools, Procore/Bluebeam/HCSS, and scheduling software (Primavera P6 a plus); commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork on a large infrastructure project.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline required
- Minimum 1+ year of field engineering or construction experience in heavy civil or DOT projects
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to access active work zones safely
- Familiarity with GDOT Standard Specifications, AASHTO guidelines, and traffic control standards
- Strong working knowledge of construction documents, layout, and field reporting tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (Primavera P6 is a plus)
- Experience with document management platforms (Procore, CMiC, or similar)
