Job Summary
Prepare unitized and smaller scope lump sum bids, ensuring pricing is updated in Heavy Bid Software and transferred to HeavyJob and Vista by Viewpoint. Maintain and update the Activity Codebook and Material Codebook while sourcing diverse subcontractors and suppliers. Conduct Project Handoff Meetings initiated by the Execution Team and participate in project post-mortem reviews. Assist the Estimating Team on larger-scale bids with a focus on accuracy and timeliness. This Junior Estimator role supports MGE Underground's utility infrastructure projects in California, requiring proficiency in Excel, MS Project, and reading blueprints and specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in City, County, and municipality requirements (i.e. Standard Plans and Specifications)
- Knowledgeable with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, quotes, purchase orders, etc.
- Strong computer aptitude and proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Understanding of CPM scheduling via MS Project
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to travel to job sites as required
- Ability to agree on completion dates and times for delegated work, paraphrase or repeat all verbal requests, keep track of delegated work, and complete delegated work on time
- Valid Class C Driver's License with a clean record and no driving restrictions
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable experience in a construction office environment performing administrative or project coordinator duties
- Must pass a drug screen and background check before beginning employment
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledgeable with P6
- Knowledgeable with HCSS/Heavy Bid software
- Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
- Experience working with Diverse Supplier Tracking and Identification
- Experience with contracts and AHJ Permits/Spec/Standards
- 2 years of verifiable experience in a construction office environment performing administrative or project coordinator duties
- Estimating experience preferred
- Construction project management experience preferred
