Junior Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction with AIS Infrastructure

Job Summary
Assist in full estimating process from beginning to submission by preparing cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects and performing quantity takeoffs under senior staff direction. Solicit pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors while researching current material, labor, and equipment costs. Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to understand project scope, then enter pricing into estimating software and prepare bid documents. Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits when required. Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and organized bid documentation. Entry-level position with 0-3 years of relevant experience; occasional travel and extended hours during bid periods.
Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of construction methods and terminology
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Willingness to learn heavy civil construction estimating practices
- Ability to learn construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to learn estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid and Trimble Viewpoint Vista and other relevant pre-construction software such as Bluebeam
- 0-3 years of estimating, project engineering, construction management, or heavy civil construction experience
- Equivalent combination of education and field experience may be considered
- Occasional travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings
- Extended hours may be required during bid periods
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
- Internship or co-op experience in construction is preferred
