Junior Engineer (EIT) - Bridge Inspection

Job Summary
Conduct safety inspections of bridges, overhead signs, dams, and tunnels using field methods including drones, climbing, diving, and mechanized access. Collect measurements, document structural conditions via photographs, and record data on tablets while preparing written technical reports and electronic drawings. Assist with Structural Analysis, load ratings, and repair/retrofit design in office settings. Mobilize to other offices or states as required for additional inspection teams or emergency work. Prepare scopes of work, fee proposals, and technical responses for proposal requests. Maintain current certification and attend training based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural or related Engineering discipline
- Ability to work constructively in a team environment
- Ability to grow to supervise other's work
- Ability to communicate and maintain professional working relationships
- Willingness to attend bridge inspection training courses based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual (BIRM)
- Willingness to keep current with refresher and continuing education requirements
- Openness to travel out-of-state or on short notice for emergency work
- Physical ability to perform bridge inspection tasks in the field, including different types of access and conditions
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification
Desired Qualifications
- ABET-accredited degree
- Any NHI bridge inspection coursework
- Any bridge inspection experience
