Job Summary
As a Junior Drainage Engineer at Parsons, you will assist in the design and analysis of drainage systems for transportation and infrastructure projects, perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and prepare engineering calculations and reports. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with regulations, and conduct site visits to assess existing conditions. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, familiarity with modeling software, and strong analytical skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 0–2 years of experience in drainage engineering or related areas (internship experience is acceptable)
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, Civil 3D)
- Knowledge of stormwater management principles and environmental regulations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD
- Familiarity with local drainage design standards in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC
