Job Summary
The Junior Camp Counselor will support the camp lead counselor by assisting in the execution of daily camp activities, supervising campers, and promoting safety, leadership, and engagement for children served. This role requires maintaining CPR/First Aid readiness, adhering to branch certifications and procedures, and contributing to program delivery with strong interpersonal and written communication skills. The position requires the ability to work outdoors and indoors, manage multiple tasks, and uphold YMCA values while ensuring a high level of service to participants. A background check and drug screening are part of the employment process, and candidates must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship. Employment location is at the Summit Family YMCA in Atlanta’s Metro area and Newnan, GA. The role emphasizes guidance, safety, education, and enjoyment for children in camp programs, with responsibilities including reporting incidents and supporting program operations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Experience working with children in a structured setting
- Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR; and any other certifications required for the position
