Job Summary
Prepare for hearings, research potential issues, and provide strategic advice to guide clients clearly. Advocate for and secure the best possible outcome for clients while maintaining confidentiality and objectivity. Draft and submit motions and other filings on time, meeting internal and external deadlines. Be familiar with and apply post-conviction remedies, staying up to date on changes in the law. Properly advise clients on the direct and collateral consequences of their case. Maintain a good rapport with clients and treat them with respect. Arrive at work and court on time in professional and appropriate attire. Participate in ongoing training and networking events as required by the Firm. Accurately and concurrently bill time. Admission to the California Bar and the capacity to attend court in the Bay Area are required. Compensation ranges from $100,000 to $135,000 yearly.
Required Qualifications
- 1-5 years of Criminal Defense experience
- High energy and eagerness to learn
- Strong research and writing skills
- Must be prepared and punctual
- Excellent time management skills
- Committed to providing high-quality client service
- Possess a J.D. and be in good standing with the State Bar of CA
- Willingness to travel throughout Alameda County and the surrounding Bay Area
- Admission to the California Bar
- Capacity to attend court in the Bay Area
Desired Qualifications
- Jr. Criminal Defense Associate (Misdemeanor Experience Required)
- Experience in a private criminal defense setting or a Public Defender's office
- Candidates with jury trial experience
- Candidates with preliminary hearing experience
- Candidates with misdemeanor experience
- Candidates with at least 1 year of demonstrable experience with criminal law, post-conviction, and restraining order concepts
- Candidates who are high-energy and willing to hit the ground running
- Candidates who can manage their time and cases effectively
- Candidates who are still committed to providing quality service to every client in the firm at all times, no matter the pace
- Candidates who work hard to produce excellent results
- Strong oral and written advocacy skills
- Candidates with second language skills
