Junior Attorney - Investment and Custodial Services

Job Summary
Junior Attorney at SEI will provide legal and regulatory support for SEI’s custody and trust operations, counsel stakeholders on applicable laws and regulations, and support cross-functional platform solutions (investment manager services, fund accounting, transfer agency, trustee services). Responsibilities include researching legislation and regulations (e.g., OCC and SEC), managing issues during implementation of new services to ensure compliance, coordinating with operations and business units to provide legal guidance on new products and services, participating in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and third-party risk management activities, and performing task-based as well as longer-term project work. The role requires a law degree, bar admission, knowledge of federal financial services regulations, ability to communicate effectively, collaboration, judgment, multitasking, and a team-oriented mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Law degree from accredited U.S. law school with 1-to-4 years’ experience in a law firm with financial services experience or a financial institution (preferred)
- Current bar admission
- Knowledge of federal laws impacting financial service companies required (custody and trust regulations, preferred)
- Experience with the OCC preferred
- Experience in regulatory compliance in an operations, custody, trust or similarly regulated area; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to balance business partnership with independent judgment and to raise potentially sensitive or contentious issues in a timely and constructive manner
- Comfort with a dynamic, often-changing environment
