Junior Accountant I - COC/Federal

Job Summary

Review CoC/DHS subcontractor invoices, verify payment reports, and enter data into accounting software for multiple projects. Prepare, organize, and file records for HUD-CoC, DHS, and HMIS programs while maintaining vendor information and entering new grant numbers into MIP. Perform monthly SPC billing, grant reconciliation, and bank account reconciliation, then update the CoC Calendar and notify the team of upcoming deadlines. Submit YTD spending updates, provider reconciliations, and leasing summaries to the Housing Team, assist with audit preparations, and organize departmental files. This role supports the Accounting Department at The Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness, ensuring compliance with Uniform Guidance regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting
  • Minimum 1-2 years of accounts payable or related accounting experience
  • Advanced computer literacy and expertise with software used in a typical office environment, e.g., Microsoft suite of office products, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, to include the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally to a wide range of audiences
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles and procedures
  • Strong data entry and knowledge of accounts payable, financial accounting, and budget analysis
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully
  • Great listening skills and the ability to work well with people at various levels inside and outside of TCP
  • Ability to work independently and function well as part of a team
  • Ability to exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, operate a computer keyboard, and handle paper documents
  • Ability to enter data and/or information into a computer
  • Ability to understand written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read a computer screen and printed materials with or without vision aids
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods
  • Mandatory COVID19 Vaccination (and booster)
  • Ability to produce a COVID19 Record of Vaccination or other documentation to prove full vaccination

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA
  • Experience with federal contracts and familiarity with Uniform Guidance regulations
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
