Job Summary
Underground Offsider (entry level) at Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia on a FIFO 14-on/14-off rotation. Reporting to the Underground Supervisor, the role supports the mining team to meet daily targets and works with underground operators to ensure safety standards, targets and deadlines are met. Responsibilities include assisting with ground support installation (rock bolts, mesh, split sets, resin bolts), aiding jumbo operator with drilling and ground support tasks, setting up headings, observing and learning methods, assisting with face preparation and installation of ground support, connecting and maintaining equipment cables, ensuring housekeeping, completing PPE requirements, and conducting risk assessments. The position requires a valid driver’s license, a physically demanding, team-oriented environment, willingness to relocate to camp accommodations, and the ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening.
Required Qualifications
- Previous underground mining experience would be preferred
- Must maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience an asset
- Self motivated and energetic - Enjoys hard work and highly physical roles
- Sound planning, time management and organisational skills
- Attend all designated rostered days, punctuality with shift start times
- Willingness to be flexible and work in other roles
- Team work, willingness to cooperate with and learn from the team
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol test
- Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
- Good radio etiquette and strong communications skills
- Able to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment
- Ability to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
- Extreme weather conditions
- Duties may involve moving materials up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
