Job Summary
Conduct specialized clerical and administrative work with heavy data entry and case processing across the full case cycle. Perform operator functions during court hearings by providing high-speed docket entry, real-time processing, and accurate filing of electronic and paper documents. Respond to customer inquiries to assist with form completion, case information requests, and preparation for court appearances while maintaining excellent interaction. Collect fines and fees according to established procedure, ensuring accurate reconciliation of tills. This full-time, permanent role in Middlebury, Vermont requires adherence to court rules and statutes, with scheduled hours generally conforming to public court times. The position offers a total compensation package including state-paid medical and dental benefits, a pension plan, and tuition reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Two years of clerical, secretarial or data entry experience
- Prior experience in a legal setting working as a paralegal/ legal assistant
- Mastery of office technology
- College training (substitutable for work experience on a year for year basis)
- Must be available for Middlebury, Vermont
- Must be available for non-remote/hybrid work
- Must be able to work beyond public court hours occasionally
- Must be willing to travel to other courts within the State of Vermont
