Job Summary
Jr. to Mid Kinematics Systems Engineer will develop ballistic and advanced/hypersonic kinematic threat models for use in modeling and simulation tools/frameworks. Responsibilities include applying engineering and mathematical algorithms to portray missile/space launch vehicle behavior across powered/un-powered flight, researching and validating parameters to build trajectories (including staging debris, countermeasures, payload traits), and authoring detailed Verification and Validation (V&V) documents. The role requires working with little supervision as part of a product delivery team and meeting time-critical delivery schedules. Location is on-site at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. Preferred qualifications include strong math/physics/engineering background, modeling/simulation experience, and missile-system engineering knowledge. Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 2 years related experience (Junior Level) OR Master's Degree in STEM with 0 years related experience (Junior Level)
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 5 years related experience (Mid Level) OR Master's Degree with 3 years (Mid Level)
- Programming background with MATLAB, Python, LaTeX
- Strong knowledge of ballistic missile flight characteristics
- Experience with V&V of vehicle kinematics simulation results
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
- Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers, users, and MDA ground test stakeholders
- Familiar with CAD tools and models
