Jr. Telecommunications Cabling Technician

Job Summary

Install, test, and document cabling pathways, fire stop systems, and electronic components including twisted pair, coax, and fiber optic cables across FBI, DOJ, and UNET enclaves. Execute on-site pre-task surveys, remove reusable supplies, and update Installation Design Plans with red-lined drawings. Mount telecommunications equipment, racks, and alarm systems while adhering to industry standards and manufacturer requirements. Maintain safe work environments by following codes, inventorying stock, and resolving customer concerns. Provide status updates to the Critical Incident Response Group and participate in educational opportunities to enhance network physical layer knowledge. Requires Top Secret clearance and experience with copper and fiber optic splicing.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience
  • Must have knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Must demonstrate good writing skills
  • Must be knowledgeable in codes, industry standards and best practices
  • Must work well with little supervision individually and in a team environment
  • Candidate may be required to have secret or top secret clearance
  • Active Top-Secret clearance required
  • Must provide a valid driver's license and/or be able to maintain reliable transportation to get to and from the jobsites
  • Must have the ability to discern colors used for safety and telecommunications terminations
  • Must maintain a safe work environment
  • Ability to carry heavy loads as needed
  • Ability to carry and climb ladders as needed
  • Willingness to work days, nights and weekends as required
  • Recent, verifiable equivalent experience in the work described above (within 3 years)
  • Verifiable military training on cabling design and/or installation (within 2 years)
  • Valid manufacturer training certificate for the product being installed
  • Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI) - Copper or Fiber
  • BICSI Installer 1 or 2 (Copper or Fiber)
  • BICSI Technician (Counts as 2 of the requirements)
  • BICSI RCDD

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred: FBI/DOJ experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook a plus
