Job Summary
Meet the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom by assisting with transfers, lifting, positioning, feeding, and personal hygiene. Manage student behavior, including intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive students as needed. Interpret instructions, conduct motor skills exercises, and assist students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Adapt methods based on individual medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs while keeping teachers informed of any problems. Maintain confidentiality and follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participate in professional development programs and faculty meetings as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- One year experience working with children
