Job Summary
Prepare and cook hot menu items according to standardized recipes, maintain proper food temperatures, and assist with daily kitchen setup. Serve food to students, monitor them during meals, and use the positive behavior intervention system to reward students. Clean tables, sweep, and sanitize kitchen equipment while following all food safety and sanitation procedures. Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies, support special dietary needs, and collaborate with colleagues on assigned meetings and trainings. Work 20-25 hours per week in a fast-paced environment, maintaining an even temper and good work ethic.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., traverse school facilities, and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, loud, and noisy kitchen/cafeteria environment with heat, noise, and time constraints, around many youth
- Possess an even temper and good work ethic
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask easily
- Positive interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain calm in high-stress situations
- Willing to effectively problem-solve as needed
- Capacity to perform all responsibilities listed in this posting
- Food Handler's permit or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of starting work
- Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history, and professional references as a condition of employment
Desired Qualifications
