Job Summary
Review project plans, specifications, and scope of work to identify required construction materials. Research products, request pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, and obtain current lead times to ensure project feasibility. Enter material quantities, pricing, and vendor information into estimating software and spreadsheets while assisting with preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals. Meet with senior estimators and management to review estimates before submission, maintain vendor relationships, and track pricing updates in an organized database. Assist with value engineering by identifying cost-effective alternatives and perform other estimating and administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree or construction-related education
- 1-2 years of construction, estimating, purchasing, or project coordination experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Comfortable reading construction drawings and specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to communicate professionally with vendors, subcontractors, and internal staff
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience with Contractor Foreman, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or other estimating software
- Knowledge of commercial construction materials and building methods
- Familiarity with public works projects
