Job Summary
Complete repairs on mining equipment including haul trucks, excavators, shovels, and dozers. Develop work scope, fabricate from blueprints, and complete reports and work orders. Follow NACG codes of practice and safety procedures. Work on a 14x14 day/night rotation with overtime paid at time and a half after eight hours or 44 hours. Receive a combined rate of up to $74.47 per hour with a living out allowance, while transportation to the Suncor Base Mine Shop is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal/Alberta Journeyperson Welder
- 1-2 years of heavy equipment repair experience
- Experience with mobile equipment repairs
- Experience with ice lugging
- Experience with lancing
- Experience with gouging
- Trained and experienced with Stick welders
- Trained and experienced with MIG welders
- Trained and experienced with large wire-feed welders
- Trained and experienced with radiograph
- Trained and experienced with Cooper-heat
- Trained and experienced with Plasma cutter
- Trained and experienced with Lance
- Trained and experienced with overhead crane
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Ability to provide a recent Driver's Abstract
- Valid CSO or BSO (Energy Safety Canada)
- Silica Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
- Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
- OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
- H2S Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
- Field Ergonomics (Energy Safety Canada)
- Willingness to learn
- Show leadership skills
- Ability to work outside if necessary
- Must be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
- Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test
- Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Urine Drug Test
- Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment
- Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Audiometric Testing
- Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Vision Screening
- Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Criminal Record Check
- Must be available for 14x14, day/night rotation
- Must be willing to work 14x14, day/night rotation
- Must be willing to work outside if necessary
- Must bring own tools
- Must bring own CSA certified steel toed boots
- Must be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
- Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with large Trucks/Dozers/Shovels/Excavators

- Red Seal/Alberta Journeyperson Welder with 1-2 years of heavy equipment repair experience (preferably large Trucks/Dozers/Shovels/Excavators)
