Job Summary
Read, interpret, and review blueprints or welding process specifications to ensure designs function as intended. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using MIG, ARC, TIG, and other processes to fuse metal segments and fabricate custom prototypes, jigs, fixtures, and metal structures. Perform brazing, soldering, flame-cutting, and metal shaping operations while conducting technical inspections, repairs, modifications, and retrofits. Monitor parts usage, report material issues, and maintain detailed documentation. Assist in training junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work. Perform all duties in accordance with safety program standards and occupational health regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Journeyperson Welder
- Working towards Interprovincial Red Seal or CWB tickets
- Valid welding certification, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified in all positions
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
