Job Summary
Operate facility systems, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and troubleshoot heating, air conditioning, and related equipment at assigned locations. Diagnose problems with units and systems, repair valves and piping, and install motors, thermostats, and humidistats. Monitor facilities through walkthroughs and equipment checks to ensure uptime, safety, and asset integrity while adhering to environmental, health, and safety protocols. Respond to routine and on-demand service requests, assist in project implementation, and maintain accurate tool inventory. Submit expenditures timely and provide recommendations for facility enhancements. Work shifts, be available for on-call/standby, and emergency call-outs as required.
Required Qualifications
- minimum 5 years' experience
- valid Certificate of Qualification issued by the province in which the work is performed
- College Diploma/Certification
- Minimum of 5 years' experience required as a licensed HVAC/Refrigeration Technician
- Strong ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
- Ability to maintain building mechanical and other system troubleshooting and resolution skills
- Current knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards
- Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset
- Ability to perform work in a safe manner
- Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
- Effective communication skills
- Mentoring skills
- Must be able and willing to work shifts
- Must be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs
- Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment
- Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements
- Valid drivers' license
- Must hold a valid HVAC Certificate of Qualification issued by the province in which the work is performed
Desired Qualifications
- Gasfitter I & II license in addition to refrigeration license
- Working towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1
- Facilities Technician Certification through an accredited institution
- Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT)
