Job Summary
Change saws and knives, lubricate mill floor equipment, and replace tool tips on de-barkers. Calibrate trim saws, check for lugs out of line, and address cracked saws, warped or broken belts. Receive equipment status reports from operators and identify problems and repairs required to operate machinery. Work in conditions with noise, dust, falling debris, moving machinery, and weather extremes while lifting heavy objects and climbing equipment. Maintain a solid work ethic, be eager to learn, and function as a team player. This role requires a valid Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic certification, 3-5 years of industrial experience, and proficiency in written and verbal communication. Candidates must be comfortable working at different heights. The position involves a 7/7 rotating schedule with 44 to 84 hours per week, including overtime availability.
Required Qualifications
- A valid Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic certification
- A minimum of 3-5 years of industrial experience, preferably working in a sawmill
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to comfortably work at different heights
- Must be able to lift heavy, awkward objects
- Must be able to climb on equipment
- Must be able to work in exposed to noise, dust, falling debris, moving machinery, weather extremes, splinters, slipping and tripping hazards
- Must be able to use PPE appropriate for the task and working conditions
- Must be able to work 7 days on and 7 days off (rotating dayshift and nightshift)
- Must be able to work Thursday - Sunday, Dayshift
- Must be able to work Monday - Thursday, 6 - 6, Rotating (two weeks of dayshift, followed by two weeks of nightshift)
- Must be able to work 44 hours per week
- Must be able to work 84 hours per week on the 7/7 schedule
- Must be able to work overtime hours
