Job Summary
Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on ready-mix concrete trucks, heavy equipment, and support vehicles, including engine, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections per Alberta regulations and troubleshoot pneumatic and electronic control systems using diagnostic software. Execute welding and fabrication repairs as needed, prioritize work orders to minimize fleet downtime, and maintain accurate maintenance records. Safely operate a service truck for emergency repairs, mentor apprentices, and ensure a clean, organized shop environment while complying with lock-out/tag-out procedures. This shop-based role in Edmonton involves a rotating schedule of one week on days followed by one week on afternoons, with shifts spanning Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty trucks and/or off-road equipment
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract
- Class 1 or 3 with air brake endorsement (Q)
- Physical ability to perform the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and working in confined spaces around equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and apply creative solutions
- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Comfortable working alone as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
