Job Summary
Journeyman Welder responsible for skilled welding, fabrication, repair, modification and installation of structural steel for amusement rides, attractions, and park facilities. Performs advanced welding across MIG, TIG, and SMAW processes, reads blueprints and welding symbols, fabricates and installs components, inspects welds for quality, coordinates with multiple park departments, and mentors apprentices while adhering to safety protocols and amusement-ride standards.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum four (4) years of welding and fabrication experience, completion of a welding apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Utah Driver License
- Proficiency in GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and SMAW (Stick) welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, fabrication drawings, engineering specifications, and technical documents
- Knowledge of welding codes, metallurgy, fabrication practices, and safe welding procedures
- AWS welding certifications preferred
- Ability to independently diagnose fabrication and repair needs and determine appropriate corrective actions
- Ability to perform structural steel fabrication, fitting, layout, measuring, cutting, and installation work
- Ability to communicate effectively and provide technical guidance to apprentices and other employees
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple assignments and priorities
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and guest service
- Understanding of ASTM amusement ride standards, welding codes, and industry safety practices preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended work hours as operational needs require
