Job Summary
Read blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications for duct systems. Measure, cut, assemble, and install sheet metal ductwork and fittings for HVAC systems according to drawings and safety standards. Operate hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal equipment such as brakes, shears, and presses. Secure components using proper fastening methods and coordinate with foremen and other trades. Perform quality checks to ensure systems meet design and code requirements. Follow company and OSHA safety standards on jobsites. Assist in training apprentices/helpers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of sheet metal experience in commercial HVAC/MEP construction
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Proficient in the use of sheet metal tools and equipment
- Knowledge of SMACNA standards and commercial duct installation practices
- Strong understanding of construction safety procedures
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces
- High school diploma or equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- technical training
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Experience leading small crews
