Job Summary
Read blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDs to plan installation sequencing and coordinate work with other trades. Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, and assemble piping systems using hand and power tools, then fit, align, and secure them prior to welding. Join piping via threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, cemented, or welded methods and install pipe supports in accordance with code. Assist welders with pipe preparation and perform hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak testing. Maintain tools and equipment while following OSHA regulations and safety protocols at all times. Communicate effectively with supervisors, inspectors, and other trades to ensure work meets applicable codes and project specifications.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a pipefitter in commercial or industrial mechanical construction
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and P&IDs
- Strong skills in measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling various piping systems
- Experience working with HVAC, hydronic, refrigeration, and/or process piping systems
- Knowledge of piping codes, installation standards, and OSHA safety practices
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and layout work accurately
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and lifting 50+ pounds
- Valid driver's license required
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
