Job Summary
Conduct daily maintenance, repair, and overhaul of plant production equipment, including pumps, elevators, conveyors, and compressors. Perform weekly preventive maintenance walkthroughs, inspections, and repairs on production machinery. Respond quickly to trouble calls from shift supervisors and operators to identify and correct machine problems. Assist operating engineers in maintaining plant utilities and support projects involving design, installation, and commissioning. Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance inspections, and meter readings while ensuring smooth communication during shift changes. Train in airborne ultrasound and thermography as needed. Work a 10-hour afternoon and night shift in Surrey, BC, with 13 days off monthly.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
- Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
- Red Seal Millwright (Fully Licensed)
- Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, kneeling, crawling, twisting, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, dust
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work overtime, holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts
- Must be able to perform maintenance trades including rigging systems, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Desired Qualifications
- Forklift experience
- Class 4 Power Engineering Certificate
- Able to perform maintenance trades including machinist, welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication
- At least 2 years of experience in production related work
- Basic computer skills
- Previous experience with MRO (Maintenance Repair Ops) and/or MRP (Material Requirement Planning)
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
