Job Summary

Identify and correct problems in machines, equipment, or processes to facilitate production. Maintain, repair, and overhaul plant production equipment, including pumps, elevators, conveyors, motors, compressors, and industrial dryer/cooler setups. Perform weekly preventive maintenance walkthroughs, inspections, and repairs on production equipment. Provide quick response to trouble calls from shift supervisors and operators. Assist operating engineers in maintaining plant utilities. Participate in project teams for design, installation, and commissioning. Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance inspections, and meter readings. Ensure smooth communication during shift changes. Actively find new ways to complete tasks and collaborate on process improvement teams. Train in airborne ultrasound and thermography if required. Work 10-hour afternoon and night shifts in Surrey, BC, with 13 days off monthly.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Red Seal Millwright (Fully Licensed)
  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, kneeling, crawling, twisting, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, dust
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts
  • Must be able to perform maintenance trades including rigging systems, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Desired Qualifications

  • Forklift experience
  • Class 4 Power Engineering Certificate
  • Able to perform maintenance trades including machinist, welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication
  • At least 2 years of experience in production related work
  • Basic computer skills
  • Previous experience with MRO (Maintenance Repair Ops) and/or MRP (Material Requirement Planning)
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment
