Job Summary
Install, calibrate, test, and repair power quality instruments, watthour meters, and meter communications equipment across distribution substations and transmission systems. Direct assigned Meter Apprentices to ensure effective and reliable metering operations. Coordinate project and maintenance work with the Meter Working Foreman while performing operational tests to verify system functionality. Maintain supporting software, conduct equipment calibrations using test sets like Bantam and Fluke, and review blueprints for field corrections. Communicate with the Billing Department to troubleshoot data discrepancies and report abnormal conditions to supervisors. Requires four years of utility experience, a valid Indiana driver's license, and ability to work in a primarily field environment with potential after-hours call outs.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the HEATS Meter Apprentice Program
- Four years of electrical utility experience in Meter Technician or related field
- Written and oral communication skills
- Problem Solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes and timelines
- Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels and work as part of a team
- Demonstrated level of professionalism, positive attitude, and ability to work with others
- Valid Indiana driver's license
- Must maintain a CDL Medical Certificate
- Potential after hours call outs
