Journeyman Mechanic

Job Summary
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair processor, mill, mobile, harvest, road salt, and fire protection equipment while applying trades in pneumatics, welding, cutting, metal fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, and machine work. Complete all tasks safely per SOPs, regulations, and policies to champion a secure environment for employees and visitors. Support plant programs including reliability, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping. Requires four years of maintenance service or schooling, working knowledge of welding and mechanics, and ability to lift 50 pounds while wearing full PPE. Preferred certifications include elevated work platforms, forklifts, and cranes.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of maintenance service and/or schooling
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills
- Working knowledge of welding, cutting, and general mechanics
- Safety-oriented mindset with safe work habits
- Punctuality and reliability
- Good communication skills
- Team-player mindset
- Self-motivation and eagerness to learn new skills
- Ability to operate various types of machinery
- Capability to lift 50 pounds
- Capability to bend
- Capability to stoop
- Capability to climb stairs
- Ability to wear PPE including hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, safety shoes, protective eyewear, and long pants/sleeved shirt
Desired Qualifications
- Certification to use elevated work platforms, forklifts, and cranes
