Journeyman Meat Cutter

Cuts, trims, bones, and grinds meat to portion and prepares quality meat department products to be displayed, while providing standard customer service. Responsibilities include greeting customers, cutting various meats, poultry, and seafood; stocking and rotating items; removing damaged items; packaging on trays and forwarding to wrapping; marinating older meats for sale; basic department cleaning; performing meat-wrapping duties; and performing related tasks as assigned. Skills include working with the public, passing a Journeyman cutting test, knowledge of different seafood types and meat cuts, operating knives, grinder, and slicer, time management, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Environment requires standing for long periods, substantial walking, and ability to lift up to 60 pounds and push/pull up to 1000 pounds; adherence to safety procedures; strong communication and observation skills.
