Journeyman Lineman (Fiber - Joint Use)

Job Summary

Repair and maintain major cable systems and structures, including replacing aerial strands, performing pole transfers, and executing aerial-to-underground conversions. Interpret work orders and engineering drawings to sequence tasks, then perform construction duties such as digging, climbing poles, stringing wire, and laying cable. Operate power equipment like hydraulic diggers and aerial lifts, while using test equipment to check for gas in manholes. Respond to emergency outages and hazardous situations, ensuring all work adheres to safety regulations and governmental orders. Complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation. Requires a valid Class A CDL, extensive telecom line construction knowledge, and ability to work outdoors in inclement weather. Schedule includes four 10-hour days plus overtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Extensive knowledge of approved practices, procedures, tools, and materials used in telecom line construction work
  • Identify differences in wire and cable colors
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy equipment, such as telephone line; climb structures; and stand for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR
  • Ability to apply mathematic calculations (Example: fractions for use in drilling and pole sizing; calculating material and hardware length for assembling several pieces of equipment to poles of different thickness and circumferences.)
  • Ability to work in a confined space and at high elevations (poles, hydraulic lift buckets, ladders.
  • Ability to apply logical principles and thinking to solve problems and make decisions
  • Willing to perform work to support the values and goals of the Company
  • Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
  • Schedule four 10 hour days plus Overtime
  • All applicants who are offered employment with Thayer Power & Communication Line Construction Co., LLC (TPC), will be subject to a background investigation and drug test
  • All work is performed at remote locations; driving and sitting are required
  • All work is outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
  • Working in confined spaces
