Job Summary
Read and interpret steel erection and shop drawings to create layouts on concrete and existing structures. Shakeout steel per erection sequence, prepare hardware, and select appropriate rigging gear based on load weight. Signal crane operators and direct workers during hoisting, ensuring all equipment is safe before use. Fabricate metal frames, columns, and beams according to blueprints, tack-weld, grind, and bolt structural members into place. Control movement of heavy loads through narrow openings using chain falls and come-alongs, then dismantle and store rigging equipment after each task. Maintain a high safety standard by detecting faulty equipment and notifying the Foreman of defects.
Required Qualifications
- Must be willing to relocate to Utah
- 4+ years of experience as an Ironworker
- Experience with tight deadlines and strict safety requirements
- Ability to operate a telescopic forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift
- Ability to weld 3G and 4G with different welding applications
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Takes pride in accomplishing quality work
- Great communication skills, especially with the crane or forklift operator using hand signals or radio
- Discretion in phone usage
- Comfortable with working at heights
Desired Qualifications
- Any OSHA/MSHA or other safety certifications are a plus
- Experience in bull-rigging is a plus
- Heavy industrial experience in shutdowns or turnaround is a plus
