Journeyman Instrumentation Technician

Job Summary

Install, troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate industrial instrumentation, electrical, and control systems, including continuous emissions monitoring (CEMS). Perform installation, calibration, and maintenance of process control instrumentation such as transmitters, analyzers, control valves, controllers, PLCs, and protective relays. Support power generation equipment and conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Rebuild components per manufacturer specifications and read P&IDs to coordinate with operations teams. Complete calibration records and communicate equipment status clearly. Work in compliance with Health & Safety standards and OHS regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman Instrumentation Technician certificate
  • Red Seal Instrumentation Technician certification
  • Valid H2S Alive
  • Fall Protection
  • Standard First Aid (Level A or C with CPR/AED)
  • CSTS 2020
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, DCS, and HMI systems (programming and troubleshooting)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Experience in gas plants, power plants, or industrial manufacturing environments
  • Proficient with test and calibration equipment (multimeters, loop calibrators, oscilloscopes)
  • Skilled using hand tools and electrical tools for installation and maintenance
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Flexible availability for shift work, overtime, and weekends

  • Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, electrical principles, voltage/current relationships
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
