Job Summary
Conduct structural steel erection, fabrication, and installation tasks including layout, assembly, welding (stick, MIG, oxyacetylene), and cutting operations. Assist with rigging and hoisting of steel components using cranes and hoists while inspecting equipment for wear. Perform visual inspections of work for fit, alignment, and weld quality to meet project specifications. Adhere to all safety regulations, participate in toolbox talks, and report hazards immediately. Interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and shop drawings to ensure accuracy. Collaborate with crew members, subcontractors, and supervisors to maintain progress. Requires 2-3 years of experience in structural steel and welding, a high school diploma, and an accredited apprenticeship.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training in ironworking
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in structural steel erection and welding
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites
- Proficiency in reading construction plans, blueprints, and welding symbols
- Strong technical skills in steel fabrication, welding, and rigging
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to steel erection and construction
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
