Job Summary
Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment on heavy civil construction projects, including transportation, water, wastewater, and utility facilities. Read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to install conduit, cable trays, wiring, transformers, switchgear, and lighting systems. Perform terminations for power, control, and instrumentation systems while coordinating with superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors. Lead apprentices, ensure OSHA compliance, maintain accurate documentation, and assist with system startup and commissioning. Identify safety hazards and report quality concerns. Requires 5+ years of experience, OSHA certification preferred, and ability to work outdoors in Houston, San Antonio, or Austin.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician
- preferably in heavy civil, industrial, utility, water/wastewater, or infrastructure construction
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable regulations
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical schematics
- Proficiency in electrical testing and troubleshooting techniques
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces when required
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems preferred
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- CPR/First Aid Certification
