Job Summary
Conduct skilled carpentry work on marine and civil construction projects, including building, installing, and repairing timber and concrete structures like wharves, bridges, seawalls, and retaining walls. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to construct, install, and dismantle formwork for metal, wood, and accessories. Perform carpentry tasks in coastal, over-water, and confined space conditions while following all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and marine construction best practices. Use hand and power tools correctly, coordinate daily activities with supervisors and other trades, and evaluate completed work for structural integrity and conformance to specifications.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of Journeyman level Carpenter experience
- Ability to read and interpret instructions and document
- Ability to plan and perform work activities independently
- Strong technical skills
- Safety awareness
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to deliver high-quality results on time and to specification
- Ability to construct, install, and repair timber and concrete structures
- Ability to work from technical drawings
- Ability to work in coastal, over-water, tidal, and confined space conditions
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, and pneumatic tools correctly
- Ability to maintain tools in working condition
- Ability to follow all safety procedures, including fall protection, PPE requirements, and marine construction best practices
- Ability to coordinate daily activities with supervisors, laborers, and other trades
- Ability to evaluate completed work for accuracy, structural integrity, and conformance to specifications
- Ability to make corrections as needed
