Job Summary

Read blueprints and drawings to interpret project specifications, then perform framing, finishing, roofing, and cabinetry tasks while installing doors, windows, and trim. Take precise measurements for layout work, select and shape materials, and collaborate with site managers and subcontractors to implement practical solutions for construction challenges. Maintain high-quality workmanship, follow Yukon safety procedures, and participate in daily safety meetings to promote a strong safety culture. Work on residential, commercial, and civil projects in Whitehorse on an auxiliary/on-call basis, with a standard 8:00-4:30 schedule that may require irregular hours including evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman Carpenter Certification
  • Proven experience in residential and commercial construction environments
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
  • Demonstrated expertise in framing, finishing, cabinetry, and general carpentry
  • Excellent measuring, layout, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Possess and maintain a personal set of carpentry hand tools and tool belt
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years
