Job Summary
Journalist for the Calgary Herald/Calgary Sun newsroom tasked with reporting and writing stories for print, web, and mobile while breaking news and developing enterprise features. Responsibilities include initiating ideas for enterprise/investigative pieces; cultivating sources; filing video clips for digital platforms; working with digital teams to create interactive maps, graphics, searchable databases, and other multimedia elements; and meeting tight deadlines. Requires proficiency in digital platforms, multimedia journalism, social media, and data-driven reporting, plus the ability to work independently within a newsroom team and hold to deadlines. Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
Required Qualifications
- Experience at a news organization
- Fluency in digital platforms, multimedia journalism and social media
- Ability to work quickly and independently, meet deadlines, and make efficient decisions
- Familiarity with data journalism and investigative reporting
