Job Summary
Translate content from English into Hausa accurately with cultural relevance and natural tone; produce engaging scripts for digital videos, social media content, and TV packages; utilize video, audio, and digital platforms to research, write, assemble, edit, and deliver content to high editorial standards; deliver under tight deadlines; take a lead within a team to deliver journalism or projects; exercise editorial judgment compliant with BBC guidelines; collaborate across teams to share content and avoid duplication.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in Modern standard Hausa and English; able to translate between Hausa and English
- Brilliant presentation skills for digital video, TV and audio; engaging for young audiences
- Experience writing engaging scripts in Hausa for multi-platform content (digital, audio, TV) appealing to young audiences
- Understanding of how stories need to be adapted for young audiences in the region
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in multicultural and diverse team environments
- Ability to produce and post social media content with thumbnails, headlines, SEO for platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok
- Experience editing videos (FCPx, QEdit) and editing audio; familiarity with plugins like After Effects desirable
- Extensive experience editing Reels and Shorts; able to engage younger audiences across long-form video
