Job Summary
Lead quality auditing and process verification for BIW welding and adhesive joining at Scout Motors. Responsibilities include auditing welds (destructive and non-destructive), verifying adhesive/sealer application, documenting findings in quality systems, supporting weld technicians and robot programmers, lead issue resolution and ongoing process improvements, and contributing to PFMEA and control plans. Requires hands-on experience with weld inspection tools, familiarity with joining standards, and strong collaboration across manufacturing engineering and maintenance. Base salary range $95,000–$120,000; travel up to 20%; 4–5 days/week in-office in Blythewood, SC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in Welding, Manufacturing Technology, or Quality Control
- 5+ years of experience in BIW quality, welding, or body shop manufacturing
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in Welding, Manufacturing Technology, or Quality Control
- 5+ years of experience in BIW quality, welding, or body shop manufacturing
- Strong understanding of spot welding, MIG welding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical joining
- Hands-on experience with weld inspection tools and techniques (e.g., chisel test, ultrasonic testers, calipers, borescopes)
- Familiarity with joining specifications, quality standards, and audit documentation practices
- Data-Driven Mindset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with great flexibility
- May require extended hours during critical phases for issue resolution
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with entrepreneurial thinking and goal-oriented decision-making
- Travel ability and willingness to travel 5%-20% of the time
