Job Summary
Instruct assigned classes in career service special populations and conduct a cooperative vocational educational program for disadvantaged and handicapped students. Develop training plans with employers to teach life skills, job finding strategies, and work-related topics, while working directly with area employers to place students in suitable training sites. Monitor student progress at cooperating employer locations and provide monthly follow-up contacts to graduates and non-graduates to ensure retention and advancement. Prepare lesson plans, maintain accurate program records, and submit required reports. Assist students in meeting high school graduation requirements or obtaining a GED, and support their transition into the job market, military service, or postsecondary education.
Required Qualifications
- Arkansas Teacher's license in a career service special population
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality integrated education
- Successful experience in working with disadvantaged and handicapped students
- Evidence of strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
- Ten and one-fourth (10) month contract
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds
- Ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period
- Ability to be physically present and at assigned work
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in job placement and on job supervision of students
