Job Summary
Conduct undergraduate and graduate instruction in ecology, animal diversity, and field biology while establishing an externally visible research program in field, quantitative, or organismal ecology. Mentor students in meaningful research experiences and contribute to experiential learning opportunities across Ecology & Evolution, Wildlife & Wildlands Conservation, and Environmental Science & Sustainability. Support the academic and religious missions of Brigham Young University through departmental service, adherence to the Honor Code, and alignment with the university's mission of assisting individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, or a closely related field
- Required degree must be completed by the start date
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in ecology, organismal biology, and/or field biology
- Evidence of an active research program in ecology or a related discipline that engages undergraduate and graduate students
- Experience with field-based, lab-based, or applied ecological research and teaching
- Must be able to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment
- Must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend
- Must be a member in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (preference given, but context implies requirement for temple recommend and honor code adherence)
- Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards
- Must demonstrate commitment to the Mission of Brigham Young University and the Aims of a BYU Education
- Must demonstrate intentionality in building faith in Jesus Christ and testimony of His restored gospel among members of the BYU community
- Must commit to seek and be led by the Holy Ghost in all aspects of university assignments
